We are approaching the one year anniversary since public schools closed for in person learning. There is still not a set date for reopening despite the fact that there is ample evidence that schools can be reopened safely.
The SF school board and UESF (the union representing the teachers) are currently negotiating on an in-person learning agreement. The board is proposing two days a week of full day instruction (with 5-day/full-day schedules for 20% of elementary schools), while UESF is countering with 4 days a week of morning-only instruction. While the school board's suggestion is better than what the union proposes, neither of these plans adequately address the needs of our families and children.
Send an email to the SFUSD board letting them know that you support reopening our schools for full time instruction. These links will open an email you can edit before sending.
Join the Decreasing the Distance Facebook group. They are a collective of SF parents working to get our schools reopened.
